Deep down there’s a bit of a hippy in me so I couldn’t let Earth Day pass without acknowledging it! Spending lots of time in the kitchen means that there is lots of packaging used and discarded. There is also electricity, gas and water used. Thanks to the green bins Ireland is now more environmentally friendly. Outside of the home, schools work hard to earn green flags not only by recycling but by conserving water and electricity. When you see kids walking around with clip boards checking that their peers are being “earth friendly”, it always asks the question… how different would the place be if it was ruled by children. If we could hold onto the innocence, acceptance of differences, strong morals and energy not to give up think about how different the world would be. Today, learn a lesson from our children. Let them take you back.
